Good Trouble Lives On Rally

Brea Jones | Daily Sun. State Rep. Angela Nixon, who is running for U.S. Senate, returned to The Villages in Saturday for the Good Trouble Lives On rally. Judy O’Dwyer, of the Village of Lake Deaton, also attended the event with a sign saying it’s important to vote for kindness.

A crowd of people flocked to Morse Boulevard and Stillwater Trail on Saturday, honking horns and holding signs in support of the nationwide Good Trouble Lives On rally, which advocates for civil and voting rights. Honoring the legacy of late civil rights activist Rep. John Lewis, the local leg of the event was hosted by The Villages Democratic Club, the Lake County Democratic Party, the Sumter County Democrats and Central Florida Tri-County Indivisible. Pamala Harrison-Bivins, a former mayor of Wildwood, and state Rep. Angela Nixon, who is running for U.S. Senate, were in attendance. “John Lewis tells us that we must continue to make good trouble by speaking truth to power and making sure people are able to vote without being denied access to the booth,” said LaRae Donnellan, The Villages Democratic Club rally committee chair and a Village of Dunedin resident. “This is a battle for democracy, and we have to keep going.”
