The Lt. Dan Band Weekend saw thousands come together with the common goal of honoring veterans and first responders. The highly anticipated return of the Lt. Dan Band left little room on the packed Lake Sumter Landing Market Square on Saturday night. The special performance was a part of a celebration that began Friday and continued into the weekend held by Villagers for Veterans and presented by DAV – The Villages Chapter 150. The celebration started off Friday night at the Savannah Center with a sold out USO-themed dinner and live show. The Warrior Bicycle Ride kicked off the celebration the following day at 7:30 a.m. at the Waterfront Inn parking lot. The celebratory weekend ends today with a screening of “Forest Gump.” The movie will be played from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Mill Playhouse, 1000 Old Mill Run, The Villages. Tickets cost $20.
