Perspective is one thing that can turn an item from someone’s disregarded item to another person’s treasure.
As spring approaches, homes may slowly be decluttered from collections of junk gathered during spring cleaning.
With upcoming events from Wildwood to Oxford that allow residents to sell old items they no longer want, people might have a bit of additional motivation to clean out their homes.
People roamed through the junk in other’s trunks to find the treasure in Wildwood on Saturday.
More than 40 vendors participated in selling their unwanted items for the Junk in the Trunk event at the Wildwood Community Center, 6500 Powell Road in Wildwood.
The event, which is held every year, was the third Junk in the Trunk sale in the city.
“It’s fun to just browse,” said Jillian Boyar, recreation specialist for the City of Wildwood. “There’s always something new.”
Items found during previous sales include kettles, jewelry boxes, baseball cards, cast iron dutch ovens and more.

Outdoor yard sales can remind people of a time when they were younger and would spend weekend morning combing through their neighborhoods for a steal.
Grab your neighbors and comb through the piles during the Community Yard Sale in Fruitland Park.
More than 20 vendors will come together to sell items they no longer use during the group sale.
“This is a good way to get in contact with your neighbors,” said Christine Wilson, sports and events coordinator for the City of Fruitland Park. “It’s a one-stop shop where you can go from family to family.”
Shoppers can take advantage of the opportunity from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at The Gardenia Center, 205 W. Berckman St. in Fruitland Park. The event is free to attend.
Wilson said goods sold at the event could include baby items, antique items, tools and more.
Those looking to sell items are able to reserve a space for $5. Vendors are requested to bring their own tables, but tables can be rented for an additional $5.
The recurring community sale will return July 12 and Oct. 4.
“This is something we do every few months,” Wilson said. “It’s a way to give residents to get organized.”
Register to be a vendor for the event by March 7 at fruitlandpark.org.
