Experts Engage with Locals at the Tea and Ta-Ta’s” Breast Cancer Awareness Program Hosted By The Booby Trap Foundation

Sharing good conversation over a cup of tea is one of life’s simple pleasures.

The tea will be soothing, and the conversation will be educational during the “Spilling the Tea on Ta-Tas with The Booby Trap” from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Artist with a Purpose art gallery, 100 South 4th Street, Leesburg.

Guests will engage in a causal and candid conversation about breast health and women’s wellness during the inaugural event hosted by The Booby Trap Foundation.

“We feel that having conversations around breast cancer and breast health is essential to encourage early detection, foster support, and promote awareness,” said Deb Jayne, founder of The Booby Trap Foundation and eight-year breast cancer survivor.

“When stigma exists, individuals may avoid screenings, delay seeking help, or feel isolated during their journey. We want to fight against that.”

The Leesburg resident also said that the Booby Trap Foundation, a nonprofit based in Leesburg, is looking to use the event to introduce themselves to the community.

“We want to let people know who we are and what our vision and mission is. We have a need to raise money and awareness about breast cancer,” Jayne said.

Along with hosting events, the foundation looks to give support to mastectomy patients by providing essential post-operative care items, including mesh shower scarves, heart shaped pillows, and camisole vests with pockets.

Jayne said that she understands the importance of these items, thanks to her own experience following her mastectomy procedure, when she had difficulties showering before she was gifted a mesh shower scarf.

“When you finally get to take a shower, you have these tubes hanging off you and they hurt. Having the shower scarf makes it a lot easier to shower without the extra pain,” Jayne said.

After learning the company that made the scarves went out of business, Jayne said she was motivated to fill the void left.

“We want to let those diagnosed with breast cancer or individuals with a loved one dealing with breast cancer to know that they are not alone,” she said. “And we want to bring the community together.”

Nicole Campbell, director of The Booby Trap, is also on the program to speak during the event — sharing her experience after being diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2020.

Women who attend the event will also have the chance to make “Ta-Ta Art”, a fun and festive activity that’ll set in a private area of the venue.

Tickets for the tea event range by level.

Basic Tea tickets for the event are $40 plus a $4.52 fee. VIP Tea and Boob Painting Tea tickets are priced at $50 plus a $5.20 additional fee.

There will also be a chance to win a gift basket by the end of the night.

In conjunction with the upcoming tea-centered event, the foundation is looking to host silent auctions, paint parties, and concerts in the future to raise awareness to the fight against breast cancer.

The Booby Trap Foundation accepts financial donations but also encourages potential donors to consider sponsoring a patient or sewing comfort items to support surgery recovery.

“Open and honest discussions normalize breast health, break down fears, and empower people to prioritize their well-being,” Jayne said. “It also helps dispel myths, educate communities, and create a supportive environment where survivors and patients feel understood and valued.”
