Lady Lake’s Pyramid Park Reopens After Recent Upgrade

Squeals of laughter from children climbing, sliding and swinging on new playground equipment at Pyramid Park during its grand reopening Wednesday signaled a job well done to Lady Lake Town officials.

The brightly colored equipment was installed over three weeks starting July 21. It replaces 18-year-old equipment that was likely “purposely vandalized,” said Mike Burske, director of the Lady Lake Parks and Recreation Department.

The cost for the equipment was approximately $270,000 and was paid for through impact fees at the Lady Lake Commission’s approval.

The children of Lady Lake also got a chance to approve the equipment before its installation.

After narrowing it down to two design options, Burske said officials invited the children to vote for their choice. He said about 95% of them favored the design that was installed.

“This equipment is nothing like when I was a kid,” Burske said. “Because of how it is put together and designed, not only does it look great but kids can’t jump out from the highest point. I think it is very safe equipment.”
