Local Libraries Give Residents Another Option for Learning

Local libraries are updating their programming to provide residents with more enrichment opportunities.

Upcoming events include classes on energy fields and musical performances designed to bring back memories.

“Our adult library programming focuses on a wide variety of lifelong learning, which can help play a significant role in promoting wellness,” said Elisha Pappacoda, communications director for the town of Lady Lake. “We seek to book speakers who offer insights addressing physical, mental and social well-being that touch on topics like stress management, mindfulness and mental health awareness.”

Lynn Walker, owner of the business Awakening Human Awareness, will teach guests about their personal energy fields at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lady Lake Public Library, 225 W. Guava St.

During the presentation, titled “What is the BioField and Why is it Important to Our Health and Well-Being?,” Walker will attempt to empower guests to be more mindful with their energy.

“I use a Bio-Well scanner to see the biofield and how much energy is being generated,” Walker said. “The scan is done by a GVD camera.”

Walker, who is a certified bio-energetic practitioner, a certified heart math coach and a lifestyle coach, will talk about frequency science and how it can be used to show chakra alignment and energy through various focal points used in a variety of ancient meditation practices.

“It also shows how many systems or organs are out of balance, as well as the energy being produced in the organs and systems, ” Walker said. “I will do a scan on someone and we will see how their biofield responds to different frequencies. Hopefully we will bring forth awareness and empower them to be more mindful of their energy body.”

Walker said the program will give locals a chance to learn more about biofields and how they impact our health and wellness.

“Everything is vibrating and that energy is explained in frequencies,” Walker said. “So we are seeing how the biofield can be enhanced using frequency technology to restore balance and harmony. When it is strong, we experience harmony and resilience.”

The class is part of the library’s health and wellness programs, which are meant to enhance the lives of local residents by providing educational and skill-building lessons. The library will continue its wellness programming with “The Ultimate Guide to Happiness and Fulfillment” at 2 p.m Aug. 22. Programs are free and open to the public and no registration is required. At The Villages Public Library at Pinellas Plaza, Dunnellon resident Chris Patti will perform a tribute to Frank Sinatra from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The show will include some of Sinatra’s greatest hits, such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “That’s Life” and “My Way.”

“People tell me they’ve had one headphone in one ear playing actual Sinatra and I’m in the other ear and they couldn’t tell the difference,” he said. “That is one of the highest compliments.”

Patti, who has performed as Sinatra in Arizona and Kentucky, said he enjoys seeing people’s faces light up when he sings their favorite songs.

“Sinatra used to say his instrument of choice is the microphone,” he said.

The library is at 7375 Powell Road, Suite 100, in The Villages. For more information about programs, visit sumtercountyfl.gov.
