Self-Sabotaging Love (Again)

The Writers Room Series

We all have driving factors that determine how we live our lives, from God to love to passion projects and creative outlets that drive our careers. These factors are the writers of our life script.

The Writers Room Series takes a look at the writers who influence or have an impact on my life.

Killing the Writers in the Room: The first piece in the folk-art series shows seven writers gathered around a table planning out a new season of the show series titled “Lav.” The Creator is placed at the head of the table to show that God is the lead influence in all decisions in my life. The characters range from good to bad to chaotic and downright dumb. Lav, the show’s main character, bursts into the room to take control of her life by getting rid of the bad influences. The pieces in the series follow Lav on adventures with her writers.

Pieces show my relationship with the theme the writers represent, including my love for putting messages in my art, living constantly with my head in the clouds (the dream realm), my habit of self-sabotaging love, and my religious understanding/journey.

I want this ongoing series to reflect important thoughts, beliefs, and occurrences—almost like a diary. It should also provoke people to think about their own lives, their influences, and the series writers. For more information click here.

Cartoons Reimagined

Like many others, watching cartoons was one of Brea’s many pastimes growing up. Now, she uses characters from some of her favorite childhood shows to portray thoughts and emotions in her art. Brea primarily worked in this art style during college from 2017 – 2020. View Brea’s changing art styles shown in her portfolio book below with creations through 2022.
