Decorating a Christmas tree has the power to bring people together.
On Dec. 5, a nearly 19-year Christmas tradition continued in the Town of Lady Lake as students from Villages Elementary of Lady Lake (VELL) and town staff worked together to decorate the Christmas tree at town hall, 409 Fennell Boulevard, Lady Lake.
“This cherished tradition showcases the town’s relationship with the school and reflects our spirit of community,” Elisha Pappacoda, director of communications for the Town of Lady Lake, said.
Rheda Shumate, a counselor at VELL, said there is record of the tree decorating dating back to 2006 and agreed the tradition reflects the close relationship between the town and the school.
“Since the school’s inception, the town has always had a relationship with our school and the supports our needs,” Shumate said. “What better way for the town to show their support and partnership than an event like this.”
