Bulls bucking, ropes twirling, dust flying and the crowd cheering at all of it will all be a part of the cowboy exhibition of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association Rodeo as it makes its return to the Sumter County Fairgrounds on Nov. 22 and 23.
PRCA athletes will go through events — including trick riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, and women’s barrel racing — starting at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
“The PRCA consists of contestants from across the United States and Canada,” Megan Louthan, marketing director for the Big Water Pro Rodeo, said. “We can potentially have some of the best rodeo athletes from all over.”
This year also marks the third consecutive annual appearance of a PRCA rodeo at the Sumter County fairgrounds.
“We have hosted PRCA rodeos at the Sumter County Fairgrounds many years ago, but at some point, we stopped having them,” Austin White, the treasurer for the Sumter Fair Association, said. “We plan to continue hosting them here annually.”
