Families beat the heat as children say goodbye to summer

The Wildwood Parks and Recreation Department invited families to say goodbye to summer with its first “Family Fun Day.”

A variety of water slides and water games like water balloon toss, water balloon fights and more were held Saturday at the Wildwood Community Center. The event gave residents a chance to cool down under the summer sun and give children a way to celebrate before school starts.

“The event is a way for the city to serve our wonderful residents and provide them with another opportunity to get out and have fun,” said Courtney Kellem, director of the Wildwood Parks and Recreation. “The Parks and Recreation team wanted to provide families with one last hurrah before the start of the new school year. There’s no better way to end summer vacation than with water slides, games and relay races.”
