The Fruitland Park Community Pool substituted for the briny deep for an event held July 27 called Scuba Discovery.
The free class, for divers ages 10 and older and with little to no scuba experience, was hosted June 27 by Brad Ecton and Noel Hansen, co-owners of The Dive Place, A Clermont-based business that offers diving education and equipment and organizes scuba outings for divers of all skill levels.
The event in Fruitland Park came about after The Dive Place held a Discover Scuba Diving event in Leesburg in 2023 to promote and raise money for the Titans Swim Team, a parent-run swim team.
