City officials held ribbon-cutting ceremonies for two public art murals Thursday, including one at the RiverWalk Shuffleboard Court Building.
An abstract floral mural was added to the building at 409 E. Seminole Blvd. by artist Graham Carraway as a way to beautify the location and create a photo opportunity for individuals.
The City of Sanford Public Art Commission chose Carraway’s floral design that features bright colors and local flowers for the 110-foot mural after he applied to the RiverWalk Mural Call to Artists.
Carraway, who was born and raised in Mississippi but formed his art career in Denver, Colo., began painting the mural on Sept. 1 and completed it by Sept. 8. The original ribbon-cutting ceremonies were supposed to be held about a month ago, but were delayed due to Tropical Storm Idalia.
