Having preached at or provided service to over 70 churches during his 15 years of being a pastor, Pastor Cornelius Blue has started his own church in Sanford, the Birthing Place Worship Center.
“I think sometimes we have a habit of misjudging our season. We can’t allow ourselves to be infatuated with what we have fantasized about, absent of the reality of what God is going to do with us,” Blue said.
“I really believe a lot of the times we blame things on an enemy and sometimes it’s simply God that has caused [the problem],” Blue added. “His goal is to bring us to the end of ourselves, so we completely look to him and trust him and know he is doing this to birth something from us and through us.”
Blue said that through prayer and different circumstances the word “birthing” kept emerging in his spirit and daily life.
“God will use people and places to drive home his point,” said Blue. “Through this process I’ve heard [birthing] so many times and I believe this is the place God is leading me to, the Birthing Place Worship Center.”
Originally, the church was going to be launched sooner than it was, but Blue said God put him “on pause.”
“God told me to launch the first Sunday in the month of September. I had never even thought of the fact that September is known as the month of birthing. It’s the ninth month in the year, symbolizing the same time period a female would go through carrying a child and experiencing labor,” Blue said.
“Not only that, but the Sunday we had our first service was Labor Day weekend,” Blue added. “I believe God allowed this to drive home a point not only is this a birthing place, but we are actually about to go into labor and birth this ministry into the earth.”
Along with being a pastor, Blue serves as the captain of the Seminole Neighborhood Policing and the Specialized Services Section for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
This role gives him oversight over close to 216 sworn sheriffs deputies, including the uniformed patrol division, property crime investigations, Code Enforcement, Chaplain’s Corp., Community Law Enforcement Academy, the Traffic Safety Unit and In Progress Crimes Unit.
“I think who I am in Christ informs my work as a patrol captain,” Blue said. “The spirit of Christ leads me in all things and measures out my temperament and my actions.”
