No Limit Counseling and Education opens location on 1st Street in Sanford

No Limit Counseling and Education, Inc., mental health counseling and trauma center founded by Sanford native Pernell M.J. Bush, officially opened its doors to the Sanford community on Monday.

Since 2014, No Limit Counseling and Education, Inc. has been on a mission to, “provide  quality and culturally proficient mental health services and education to promote transformative growth,” Bush said.

Services provided include assessing, diagnosing, evaluating, preventing and treating individual, couple, marital, family, or group behavior, based on the person-in-situation perspective of psychosocial development for the prevention and treatment of undesired behavior and enhancement of mental health.

By hosting and attending several events — including the 2023 Black Joy Fest or hosting anger management classes — No Limit Counseling and Education, Inc. has been able to accomplish the mission.

The organization held a campus ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 8 at the new location at 819 E. 1st Street. There are plans to open four more campuses over the next five years.

Bush said that providing mental health services to the black community is imperative because of the unique challenges and disparities they face.

“Historical trauma, racism, and systemic inequalities contribute to increased rates of mental health issues. However, stigma and limited access to culturally sensitive care hinder help-seeking,” Bush said. “By addressing these barriers and providing accessible mental health services, we can improve well-being, reduce disparities, and promote resilience within the Black community.”
