BISCAYNE BAY CAMPUS STUDENTS HAVE NEW EXPECTATIONS

Students are seeing a change in the Biscayne Bay Campus and it’s creating new and higher expectations.

Students who’ve been on this campus for more than a year are aware of how it normally operates and were content with the quiet and peaceful lifestyle that BBC became known for.

Now that more resources are being poured on campus, students like junior Madison Rodriguez realize that they want more.

“I was really excited to see that they added a culture corner in Wolfe University Center but I have yet to see anything happen there,” said Rodriguez. “I was also excited to try the reflexology path when it first opened. I like it but it’s definitely not for everyone. If we are investing that much money in something it should be something that everyone is into.”

The reflexology path, which was officially opened on Thursday, Aug. 23, initially received major buzz from students and professors alike.

But the $50,000 project has begun to lose traction.

I haven’t seen a lot of people use the path since the inaugural week, which makes me wonder whether that money could have been used for another, a more beneficial project like a small campus store.

“As a student living on campus it’s really hard to get groceries without a car,” said Rodriguez.

“I know that more food options are coming in the near future but right now there are not a lot of options for me as a vegan and I get tired of eating the same thing every day”

The events conducted by student clubs at BBC always have a decent turn out.

However, students who always attend events are noticing a bit of repetition and want something new.
